What is Sky e-Clinic?

Sky e-Clinic is a family-owned U.S. telehealth practice. Our board-certified physician provides consultations, diagnoses, and prescriptions via chat, video, and phone — no in-person visit required. Care is available in English or Japanese.

Will I see the same physician each time?

Yes. Because we're a solo, family-owned practice, the physician who reviews your intake is the same one who sees you, writes your prescription, and handles your follow-ups. Consultations are available in English or Japanese.

Question 3

Does my visa type or immigration status matter?

Accepted Answer

No. As long as you are lawfully present in the United States, you are welcome regardless of your visa type (tourist, work, student, etc.) or residency status. We do not collect or share immigration-related information.

Do I need an appointment?

Chat consultations can be initiated any time — no appointment needed. Video and phone consultations require scheduling within physician availability hours. Use "Start Consultation" to book.

Which states are covered?

We currently serve 45 states + DC. New York, Kansas, and Wisconsin are coming soon, and Alaska and Mississippi are temporarily paused for new patients while state registration is pending. Check the Available States page for the latest.

Why aren't NY, KS, or WI supported?

Our physician holds active medical licenses in all 50 states + DC, including New York, Kansas, and Wisconsin. We are not yet operational in these three states because each has unique state-specific registration requirements, regulatory overhead, and operational costs that we cannot yet absorb while maintaining service quality during our launch phase. We plan to expand to NY, KS, and WI once the practice is established and we can support these states properly. Separately, Alaska and Mississippi are temporarily paused for new patients while their state registration is pending.

What if I live in one state but am currently in another?

U.S. law requires that your physical location at the start of your consultation determines which state rules apply — not your home address. If you are visiting Texas while living in California, Texas regulations apply.

Can I use the service while traveling or on a business trip?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as long as you are physically located in a covered state. Please share your current city and address at the time of your visit.

I live near a state border. Anything to watch out for?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The state you are physically in at the moment your consultation begins determines the applicable rules. If you commute across state lines, make sure to confirm your location before starting.

Do available services differ by state?

Yes. State medical laws determine whether chat-only, video/phone, or a combination is required. Three groups: Group A (chat OK from first visit), Group B (initial video required, chat OK from second visit onward), Group C (video/phone required for all visits). What is the difference between chat and video consultation?

Chat consultation lets you send text and photos anytime (24 hours). The physician reviews your intake and responds during physician hours. Video consultation is a real-time video call that allows the doctor to visually assess you in more detail. State law determines which method is required.

Is chat consultation available 24/7?

Accepted Answer

You can submit your chat and photos at any time. Physician responses, diagnoses, and prescriptions are processed during physician hours. For emergencies, always call 911 or go to the ER.

What does "returning patient" (follow-up) mean? Do I need the same condition?

Accepted Answer

You are treated as a follow-up only when both are true: (1) you are in the same state as your prior visit, and (2) you have had a prior video visit with Sky e-Clinic. The condition can differ from your first visit (a cold the first time and a skin issue next time still counts, as long as (1) and (2) are met). If your prior visit was chat-only, or you are consulting from a different state, the follow-up conditions are not met and we will see you as a new (initial) visit — there is a dedicated option for patients with a chat-only history in the same state. Choosing the wrong visit type can cause refund delays and delays in care.

Can I use phone-only for my consultation?

It depends on your state. Some states (e.g., North Dakota, Texas, Washington, Maryland) do not permit phone-only consultations — video or a combination of video and store-and-forward records is required. Check your state's notes on the Available States page.

What conditions do you treat?

We cover: (1) General/Minor Illness: cold, flu, COVID-19, sinusitis, gastroenteritis, mild asthma. (2) Pediatrics: fever, cough, sore throat, ear pain, vomiting/diarrhea for children 6 months and older. (3) Skin & Healthy Skin: acne, dermatitis, eczema, herpes, fungal infections, rosacea, fine-line/dark-spot concerns. (4) Women's Health: UTI, yeast infection, birth control, emergency contraception, irregular periods. (5) Chronic Disease (refills): hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, thyroid disease, depression/anxiety — stable cases only. (6) Men's Health: ED, AGA, STI screening. (7) Documents: work sick notes, school notes. (8) Just-in-case care-need consultation. We do NOT treat life-threatening emergencies.

Can you prescribe refills for my chronic medications?

Yes, for stable chronic conditions. Please have your current medication information ready (medication bottles, pharmacy history, or prior prescriptions). If your condition has changed significantly or in-person evaluation is needed, we will guide you accordingly.

Can you prescribe controlled substances (ADHD medications, opioids, benzodiazepines)?

No — without exception. Sky e-Clinic does not prescribe any controlled substances (Schedule II–V), including stimulants (Adderall, Ritalin), opioid pain medications, benzodiazepines (anxiety/sleep medications), or any other DEA-scheduled drugs. This applies regardless of whether you have an existing prescription from another provider. Please consult an in-person physician or specialist for these medications.

Can you treat emergencies?

No. Sky e-Clinic is not an emergency service. For chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, major bleeding, stroke symptoms, or any life-threatening condition, call 911 or go to your nearest ER immediately.

Question 19

How do I receive my prescription?

Accepted Answer

After your consultation, the physician sends an electronic prescription (e-prescription) directly to your chosen pharmacy. You do not need a paper prescription.

Can I choose which pharmacy receives my prescription?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We send prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy (CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, local pharmacies, etc.) within the state you are physically located in at the time of your visit. We do not send prescriptions to out-of-state pharmacies.

Can I use an online mail-order pharmacy?

Accepted Answer

In many cases, yes. This depends on the medication and state regulations. Let us know your preference during your visit.

Do you accept insurance?

We currently operate on a self-pay basis. We can provide a superbill (itemized receipt) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Please check with your insurer.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Yes. HSA and FSA payments are accepted. Receipts are available upon request.

Fees vary by service type. Please see our pricing page for the latest rates. There are no hidden fees for your consultation. Medication costs are separate and paid directly at the pharmacy — they vary depending on your insurance and the medication prescribed. Estimated medication costs are listed on our pricing page.

Will I get a refund if no prescription is issued?

The consultation fee covers the clinical evaluation, not the issuance of a prescription. If your consultation is completed, the fee is non-refundable even if no prescription is issued — this is consistent with standard medical practice. If you believe there was a problem on our end (e.g., physician misconduct, a technical failure that prevented the consultation from being completed), please contact us and we will review your case individually.

What is your cancellation and no-show policy?

Consultation fees are collected at the time of booking. If you cancel more than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment, you will receive a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours of the appointment and no-shows are non-refundable.

Do I need another visit if my medication is not working? Will I be charged again?

If your symptoms do not improve or you have concerns about your treatment, we recommend a follow-up visit. Follow-up consultations are available at a discounted rate compared to an initial visit. Please see our pricing page for details.

Is my medical information secure?

Yes. We are fully HIPAA-compliant and use Elation Health, a certified electronic health records (EHR) system. All communications are encrypted.

Will my employer or family find out about my visit?

Accepted Answer

No. Under HIPAA, your medical information cannot be disclosed to any third party — including employers or family members — without your explicit consent.

Could using telehealth affect my visa or green card application?

Accepted Answer

Sky e-Clinic does not share any information with immigration authorities. The immigration medical examination (Form I-693) is a separate process conducted by a civil surgeon, entirely unrelated to our service.
