How It Works
From how to begin a consultation to the visit itself, prescriptions, and the patient portal (Elation Patient Passport) — explained step by step.
First-Time Visitor Guide: How "Start Consultation" Works
"Start Consultation" walks you through a short series of questions in order. The list of checks may look long, but each step is required so that — under each state's medical rules — we can safely see you online. The interface guides you; you simply pick your answers in turn.
⏱ Time estimate: Steps 1–8 (pre-check) take about 2 minutes. Step 9 (intake form, consent, registration, booking) takes about 10–15 minutes.
- 1
Check for life-threatening emergency symptoms
First, we confirm there are no symptoms that may be life-threatening — severe chest pain, sudden difficulty breathing, decreased consciousness, and similar — for which 911 or an ER visit cannot wait for an online consultation.
- 2
Check whether your concern is something Sky e-Clinic can safely handle online
We confirm the issue does not require in-person examination, procedures, or imaging that cannot be safely managed by telehealth.
- 3
Confirm the state you are physically located in
In the U.S., the rules of the state where you are physically located at the time of the visit apply — even for telehealth. We confirm your current state.
- 4
Confirm first visit, follow-up, or prior chat-visit history in this state
Is this your first time, a follow-up, or do you have a prior chat-visit history in the same state? This determines which path applies.
- 5
Confirm sex assigned at birth and age
For safe and appropriate care, we confirm your sex assigned at birth and your age.
- 6
Pick your symptom or category
Choose what you would like to discuss — pick a symptom or a category.
- 7
Confirm the consultation method
Based on your state and your concern, confirm the available consultation method (chat, video, or phone).
- 8
Review your selections and the estimated fee
Review what you have selected and see an estimate of the consultation fee. (Steps 1–8 take about 2 minutes in total.)
- 9
Booking preparation (intake form, consent, registration, scheduling)
On the "Booking & Visit Preparation" page, complete the intake form, sign the consents, register as a patient, and schedule your visit — in order, top to bottom. (Estimated time: about 10–15 minutes.)
After You Book — What Comes Next
- 10
The consultation itself
At your scheduled time, your physician meets with you by chat, video, or phone.
- 11
Patient portal (Elation Patient Passport)
All visit-related notifications, records, prescription details, and post-visit messages flow through the HIPAA-aligned Elation Patient Passport. From the invitation email you register an account, then review visit details and exchange secure messages with your physician. Do not send medical content over regular email or SMS.
- 12
Prescription (if needed)
If your physician determines a prescription is appropriate, an electronic prescription is sent directly to your chosen pharmacy. Prescriptions are not automatic; the physician reviews your case and decides.
- 13
In-person referral if needed
If your concern cannot be safely managed online, we will guide you to in-person care, additional testing, or a specialist as appropriate.
